AGM 2011 - Melbourne

Postby Gooner Dundee » 01 May 2010, 13:31

What are some ideas for the AGM, what optional extras would be nice that interstaters can do while their here.

Chadstone for the WAGS
Royal Melbourne Zoo
Rialto or Eureka skydeck
MCG tour
AFL at the G
Underbelly tour lol
There's only 1 Arsene Wenger

VICTORIA CONCORDIA CRESCIT

Don't blame it on Henry,
don't blame it on the injuries,
don't blame it on the referees,
blame it on Eboue!

I'll prolly be at the Crown lol
I met this really kinky girl.
"Humiliate me," she said.
So I bought her a Tottenham shirt.

An AFL match sounds good, show the interstates the sorts of crowds we get (assuming there is no A-League matches on).

We've got to have a day of a kick-a-bout and BBQ.

Doesn't matter what sport we go to ,as long as we do it as a group it will be a laugh ...as long as it not Richmond ...watching unco-ordinated kids is painful
how about a bbq for tea/dinner so we don't have to get up early

MCG tour sounds good. Not just footy, olympics, but world footy too, cricket etc.

What time of year is the AGM being organised for?

Maybe we should pick a weekend when we've got the early game.

Alternatively, we've got Spurs on 26/2/11

I suggest January 9th cause I'm there already.

Nah spurs weekend sounds good, only thing is that would be around finals time so that could a problem for those of us needing to travel elsewhere.

I would NEVER take anyone to crown if they were visiting Melbourne. It's the worst aspect of this city by a long long way...

Quiet Bossey! You can't discount us before the season has even started. We may have the new supercoach lol

Yeah crown is awful, but then again casino's bore me.
Melbourne Zoo - I've heard it's even as good as Adelaide Zoo so meh

All I'm interested in in Melbourne is food and shopping,
Would be keen for an AFL game though

You lot are keen, season hasn't even kicked off yet!!!

Don't worry we're on it. Already spoken to the Celtic Club re hosting the festivities next year. Whist they have big screens downstairs they have a function room upstairs for big events which I can book depending on the weekend selected. They even have darts and a snooker table up there for extra drunken interstate rivalry fun.

The venue is smack in the middle of town so easy to get to clubs, restaurants and day time activities and stagger home if staying in town. We'll provide a list of accomodation links for people to select from if people want advise about somewhere to stay. Also if a group want to stay in the city at a mid-range hotel, closer to the event I will try to secure a bundled weekend 'package' deal. Will just need a rough idea of how many will want to do this nearer the time. Most of the websites offer deals too of course.

Anyway, we'll have the now 'traditional' inter-state kickabout plus barbie organised plus a range of day time activities which are easy to get to and arrange a group booking if required. Also closer to the actual weekend we'll know about special events happening here as there is a constant stream of bands, shows, sports to watch here at weekends.

Whilst the fixtures are out, the last minute tv scheduling changes make selecting a weekend a bit of a lottery at the moment as we all know. However, on the face of it, the Spuds match weekend sounds great as the weather will be as good as it can be here!! Can't be worse than Brissy!! Could be even be a weekend at St Kilda beach with fun at Luna Park follwed by drunken dancin' at he Espy!

That weekend of course is also at the end of the A league and cricket seasons and just prior to the start of the AFL season (there may be a pre-season cup match on though). Anyway, at the AGM in Brissy we agreed we would put up a few date options for debate prior to finalising a weekend with plenty of notice in time for next years AGM.

Keep putting up suggestions and ideas. All are welcome. Cheers Tony.

P.s Bring on the 'Pool complete with sweatbands (who never uses them!) Cole!! :P

The Armidale members would love to take in an AFL match at the MCG probably would vote for a March/April AGM.
Cheers to all, Warren.

Why don't we have a BBQ in Nov to discuss it? Hopefully the weather will have cleared up by then.

Andrew and Lachy are re-organising the kickabout and barbie for the weekend of the Spuds match in Nov. In the meantime we can discuss the AGM weekend date and plans at the Supporters Clubs Triva Event at the Turf Bar on Nov 13 and at the BBQ.
