Arsenal vs Porto

Postby skyl » 08 Mar 2010, 12:28

You might think why i'm starting this thread so early coz I just can't wait for this game to kick off! I'm keen to see us do well in the CL this year, and i certainly hope our journey doesn't end here. So let's hope even without our Fabregas, we can fire on to victory with good margin! Cmon Arsenal!

P/S Bendtner pls practice your shooting FFS! We can't afford to miss those chances vs Porto!

al
eboue verm sol clcihy
cesc(nasri) song diaby
rosicky/walcott nicklas arsh

if cesc is out, i think nasri would slot in nicely in his role as he was excellent on the w/e. i think we'd be foolish not to take advantage of theo's good game against burnley n start him in this one, however rosicky startin n then theo as impact sub could be more damaging to porto. really hope cesc can make this one, watever happens i dont want to see silvest or deni on the pitch...

Agreed Mash, I think Nasri could fill in for Cesc, and Theo should start..........hopefully he can show some consistancy. Tomas to come off the bench...considering we gifted Porto their win,we should be able to pluck a 2-0 victory, even if they park their team bus in front of the goal. At least we scored at Porto....hopefully we can keep a clean sheet and keep the ball in attack, so that Almunia doesn't get too much work....goals by Theo and Nick to finally get the monkey off his back, we need this one sorted early....my thoughts

Our defence definitely need to be on top for this game! I'm sure we will score goals, but whether it is enough to win? That's another question though :? Same with you guys, i'm excited to see Nasri to fill to Cesc's role, he has been good in the past few games, i just hope he will try to score himself at times. His long shooting is second to none in the Arsenal squad, and i think he should use it more.

5 - 0 win & 'The Boy Wonder' (Football Brainless), on the bench. Doesn't get much better than that. :D :D

Great result, although I was very nervous in the second half when it was 2-0. Bloody awesome goal from Nasri, great to see him playing so well

Great stuff, loved it...........Nasri did well in Cesc's spot....brilliant determination for his goal, and good to see Bendtner finally get some sitters, would be great for his confidence after his last game...Eboue playing well, Almunia had the ball kept away from him enough to look good, AA played some sublime assists.........and a not so controversial ref for a change.......well done lads!!!...my thoughts

A fine effort that. Nasri really stood up tonight in Cesc's absent, he really is starting to grow with confidence and as a Skly says it would be great to see him have a few more shots. From memory, it took Pires a little over a season to really get going in the EPL as well and I think we might start to see some real consistency from Nasri which will be important for our run in as he has great talent. Arshavin was brilliant tonight also, and well done to Big Nick, I still have faith in this lad. If he starts hitting the back of the net he might be the key player in our chances this season (it can't all be down to Cesc!). We are showing a bit of depth too - unlike last season - as every player looks confident and ready for the fight. Also a big nod to Sol Campbell, he was solid and calm in the second half when we were still 2-0, its great to have an old wise head at the back. Pity he can't play every match while Gallas is out.

I forgot to add that this week against Hull will be a real test of our character and maturity as a team because we often are a bit flat and drop points after we have had a big Euro night. I for one believe this team has turned a corner and has a real sense of belief and wanting to make it happen this season. Not sure if we have the quality or game to knock off big teams over two legs in the CL, but enough to see us get on a run in the EPL and have a crack at the title.

Agreed. A win against Hull is a must now. They have been a bit of a bogey side for us but I think we'll beat them. They are shocking at the back, and cesc or no cesc we should be able to exploit that.

Shavings was quality this morning. The rest obviously did him good! :D :D :D
