Arsenal vs WBA

Postby goonerphill » 12 Jul 2008, 08:37

Arsenal v West Bromwich Albion
Saturday, August 16
Kick off: 12.45pm GMT

OK lads we've got an early kick off for our first game of the season. So who's going to be down the Pig to watch it? It would be Ideal if we could all get down there.
Post a message below if your gonna make it and we'll make up the details as we go along

Been speaking to Chrisl about this. He was planing a BBQ at his place for that night. So he's throwing the invite out to all Queensland Gooners who want to come. He's based in the Glasshouse Mountains with plenty of room to pitch a few tents if need be. Anyone wanting more details just PM Chris and he'll fill you in.

P.s bring your drinking boots

Will be at the Pig N Whistle on Riverside(Eagle St) for the game and to meet any of the new/old members that can't make it up to Chris's place.

I must say I personally think that getting together at the Pig is what we should be doing. Ideal opportunity to get a lot of us together and make plans for the season ahead. Also means we are on the spot to talk to other Gooners there and let them know about the club.

Chris was planning a BBQ before our game was made the early kick off. There are a few of the lads on the team he coaches that are keen to watch the games with us. As they are under 18 coming down to Brisbane is not an option for them. Though I'm sure if the majority are going to be at the Pig he'll try to pull out all the stops to be there and that the under 18's will understand.

For those who are interested we are looking at going for a curry prior to the match. There is a curry house at south bank that has big raps on it so maybe dinner from 7-8? then a gooner march down the mall to the Pig n Whistle

Who's in? just post in the poll and let us know your numbers so we can get a booking going.
Need to know as early as poss to get the numbers for the booking.

Have heard a few good reports about a curry house at west end, the Punjabi palace. We can trek it down through the mall to the pig afterwards from there.
Sound good to everyone?

Gave them a call and booked a table for that night with enough room for any more that come along.

7pm booking. http://www.punjabipalace.com.au/

It's about a 5 min walk from south Brisbane station for those coming by train.

I'm in if that's sweet. I skimmed through all the replies but what's the final plan for the night? I'm keen to hit the Pig for a few drinks although I do have a broken foot at the moment and am on crutches!!!

I will also be promoting this on my blog (http://arsenalfcblog.com) so hopefully I can coax a few more into going to the Pig.

Cheers.

Of course its sweet mate. We will all be getting down to the pig at about 8:30 to 9 maybe earlier that night. We are going out to west end for a curry dinner prior, the invite is open for that. We are a welcoming bunch.

No worries. I'm pretty sure I've gotta go and watch my boys play soccer that night (mighty UQ) so I don't think I'll be able to get down for dinner - but if things change then I will.

I'll still throw out the invite as well as all the details for other Aussie venues on the blog though.
