Live games @ The Lucky Shag Bar - 2008/09 Season!

Postby andyb2 » 12 Jul 2008, 22:20

Hi Guys

Just been looking over the match schedule for the coming season and am extremely pi**ed off to see that a lot of Arsenal games at the start of the season seem to have 5.30 kick offs back home, meaning half midnight for us !!!!
For once I hope that Sky Sports use their influence over the Premier league to change some of these as the season progresses !
I can confim that we can kick off the season with an early kick-off of 7.45pm WST at the bar live on the Big screen against West Brom.
4 of our next 5 games are scheduled for a late k.o, meaning the bar will unfortunately not be open.
Below is a list of games we plan to show until xmas...... Again we've been stitched up with the game against the spuds being given a weekday night slot !!!!! wot are they doin to us !!!!

Sat Aug 16th v West Brom (h) @7.45pm
Sat Sept 13th v Blackburn (a) @10pm
Sat Oct 4th v Sunderland (a) @10pm
Sat Oct 18th v Everton (h) @ 10pm
Sat Nov 8th v Manc Utd (h) @ 9.45pm
Sat Dec 6th v Wigan (h) @ 12pm TBC
Sat Dec 13th v Boro (a) @12pm TBC

If any off the late kick off's are changed to a decent time we will show them.

Hope to see ya all down the pub cheering on our great team this season

Andy

when do the clocks change back to 9 hours? about november?

its hard to judge what games we can see as sky sports love to change the KO times throughout the season.

what time will the shag be open until now you have your late license andy?

Hi

Just wanted to let everyone know how the bar stands in relation to showing games after daylight saving comes into effect next week.
As you probably know we go from a 7 hour to 9 hour time difference to the U.K.
THis means all 3pm k.o's back home are now on at midnight here.
The bar has applied to the dept of liquor for an extended trading permit to stay open until 2am on saturdays to show the games, as of yet we have had no response back from them.......no surprise really as iy's a government dept in WA....which tends to stand for Wait Awhile !!
As soon as we have the permit I will let Steve and you all know.
As it stands at the moment the next live game to be shown will be against the Manc twats on Nov 8th.
More than likely we will not be showing the Stoke game even if we do get the permit as it is the busiest weekend of the year for the bar due to the Redbull Airrace and we open at 9am on both the sat and sun......I can do without a staff revolt !!!!

Cheers

clocks changeing is a right c***, ruining my f*** season. just started working nights on fri/sat's, so cant make those days. been hoping to get to the shag for plenty of sunday games, but of course, whereas last year half the games were a sunday, when i need them to be this year we havent f*** had any and the ones we have coming up will be on too late to watch at the shag.
hope a few sat KO's get moved

anybody interested in meeting to watch the scum game at the carbon bar?

Having had a chat to Andy, it sounds like the late licence application is pretty hopeful. It looks like there will be no decision until the end of the month. Unforteuntly, this means that the Villa and City games are probabaly out, and that the next probable meet (if the application is successful) will be for the Wigan game on Dec 6th.

I'll update this thread on that basis and of course update you all if anything changes in the meantime.

Not looking good. There is no news on the late licence and no early Saturday games for the forseeable future.

Andy has indicated that he will be following up re: the late licence. However, I get the impression that the WA Liquor licencing Department are not the quickest!
