I WANT OUR OWN VENUE FOR GAMES
i would like our own venue to watch the games ,i went with my bro in law to watch the gooners v scum game in there own pub and it was very busy ,its there own pub where they have meets for EVERY game, they get bar snacks(for free)and most of them know each other ,for starters star city is like being in america to watch games, cheers bar (if you can get in on weekends because them wankie bouncers think you have had to much to drink)you get a mixture of fans.we dont have any offical meets wheres mitchel...i think i have paid $25 this season for a car sticker! we played milan the other week(off the park, ah ah)we should have all been in our own pub chearing the boys on....

Hi Sydney Gooners. Hope you don't think i am sticking my ore in from Perth.
However, just a few words on what we have got going well over here...
Until we had one 'official' venue, it was very hard to get any regular meets or momentum going.
I suggest you source somewhere where they are happy to ALWAYS play Arsenal on a big screen with commentary. Should be plenty of greedy bar owners that should see the potential in a cub like Arsenal using their pub as an 'official' venue...
Decide on your 'official' venue and stick to it - that way there will be no confusion. Doesen't matter if your venue is not open for all games, but it is about being clear when you are meeting officially (best to create an expression of interest thread for all potential meets), and everyone making an effort to turn when there is a 'official' meet.
Having visited Sydney a number of times, I agree that the Star Bar and Cheers are not appropraite venues. I am sure if we can find a venue in Perth - you can find one in Sydney! Have you though of somewhere like Glebe? Loads of boozers and still quite near the city...
Good luck!

Hi all,
I'm new to the site... but fully agree with getting an officail supporters club venue... The finish to this season is going to be very exciting plus the massive games in the champions league.. I would rather watch it with some other passionate arsenal fans than me and my mate in my living room...(although we do get quite rowdy) ha...
Very keen on getting something sorted!

So what is the deal with sydney, this weeks game is the perfect time to hold a meet, even if it is star city i think you should first try and get enough people together to get some momentum, then get a specific bar. Maybe the start city or something similar will be good as everyone knows it.
I'd send an email to everyone who's signed up to arsenal australia or pm each one if that's not possible, and remember those arsenal australia business cards their good.
regards

well i sent an email to NSW sports club to see if they showed football, this was their reply...
Dear Arjun,
Absolutely, the English Premier League is shown on the Fox Sports channelswhich we have. I cannot find any UEFA League games in the tv guide for FoxSports. Friday and Monday nights are usually reserved for NRL and RugbyUnion, however we have more than 4 screens on which to view these channelsso if another codes big game is on, we have a large screen in our basementbar with couches to allow you to view your games. We look forward to seeingyou soon!

I would be keen to have a regular meeting spot for wacthing games, a few beers etc.
considerations tho for the club. it has to be pretty much open 24 hours.
where do the majority of sydney siders reside. if most of us live in western sydney, why not somewhere like granville or strathfield. heaps of pubs in that area would be happy to accomondate a club (tho it may not be as classy as some people like) and as the club grows, it wouldnt be a big deal to move to another venue.
the other, it must be close to public transport. a place in the middle of nowhere, that people have to drive to (this, cancelling out having a few drinks) pretty much negates the whole point of it.
but, more of a personall prefernence, would be massive tv's, couches, pool tables, and non smoking

Good luck in your search. I'd suggest just getting together and trying out a few bars until you find one you like. I'm sure that in such a large city your find other Gooners on your travels. Especially with the number of poms there.

venue
Hello fellow gooners,
As Arsenal fans in sydney we need 1 venue and 1 active voice. we also need some direction. If our rep won t organise 1 official venue. I have no problem with getting a pub sorted for next season, if no one has any objections. I think are venue has to be in the cbd. or as close to central station as possible.
I have looked online at other clubs sydney venues: And there seems to be a variety out there.
arsenal cheers or casino cbd 24hrs
man u srcuffys cbd 24hrs
cardiff kauri pub glebe
spurs triple ace cbd 24hrs
liverpool cheers cbd 24hrs
chelsea tigers club balmain 24hrs
everton cheers cbd 24hrs
west ham The Hakoah Club bondi
watford pyromont bridge hotel pyromont 24hrs
celtic cheers cbd 24hrs
rangers coogee rsl coogee
newcastle cheers cbd 24hrs
As you can see cheers is very common but it has to many problems with entry etc. Are other venue at the casino is not very atmospheric.
I think we need some where relatively small so we can generate some noise and atmosphere etc
I am going to try some of the pubs along the parramatter road and around central station. And hopefully we can get some positive feed back.
thanks and any more suggestions would be helpful.

Yeh I have no complaints at all, I've never even heard anything from our Sydney rep.
I'm happy with anywhere as I'll probably drive most the time. I was at One World Sports in Parramatta recently, they had a pretty good spot downstairs, maybe One World in Darling Harbour would be alright? Anyway, good work, can't wait for next season!

Im sure any bar that would have Euro 2008, would show the premier league as well, so all we have to do is find a nice bar that shows Euro, and it should show the premier league. Im saying this cos Euro is on setanta, and if they have setanta they should have fox sports
