Arsenal v Aston Villa

Postby Chops » 10 May 2011, 16:20

Hard to gauge this one ,villa in pretty ordinary form (arn't they all before they play us) and are almost mathematically safe from the drop ,where as we chasing second or third spot and some flippen respest and pride.

For one week after beating MU I was happy, believed that the fog of defeat from the CC had lifted. Consequently I thought we would smash Stoke, for Ramsey if nothing else. Now I don't know. From the highlights I have seen we were insipid. Against the Villans it could be anything...

Bring Vermalen back and rest Djourou since TV and LK will be our starting pair if no-one else is signed next season.

Neither team is showing much form at the moment, and although Arsenal appear to have more to play for, that doesn't seem to mean much to the players at the moment. I'm picking a draw. Score draw mind you, as Villa are likely to get at least one set piece.

I believe we can finally win convincingly at home...we usually play better when we're playing for nothing ..but finger crossed...i really hope for a climax finish to the season.

So envy at manchester's club now....grrr!!!

I think more to the point, we don't play well when we are in a position to win something. Right now we've yet to lock-up 3rd place on the ladder, so we still have something to play for tonight. On the plus side Villa will likely try and play football rather than resorting to parking the bus, or kicking us off the park, so there's a good chance we'll get a result out of this one.

VICTORIA CONCORDIA CRESCIT

Don't blame it on Henry,
don't blame it on the injuries,
don't blame it on the referees,
blame it on Eboue!

correct me if im wrong but i didnt see us string 5 passes together till the 20 min mark? first 15min they were all over us and Bent took his chance's well unfortunately. We looked better towards the end of the first as RVP started carving out some chances .
then i fell asleep :(

sad day when you enjoy the league one playoff game before your own (but it was a ripper)

That's true, we didn't turn up 'til the 20 min mark. It was like the three other defenders thought they didn't have to work because Vermaelen was back. It could have been more if Song hadn't covered for Gibbs a couple of times. He (Gibbs) played better after that(and after last week). He played a bit further up the pitch when we played with a back three and at times, a back two, with Song and Vermaelen. It's just not working for Theo at the moment, we seem to be lopsided, there's not enough space on the right side but seems to be acres on the left. Other teams have figured us out and now it's time to spend some of the available money and buy some physically and mentally strong, quality players.

Suppose its a good thing that I fell asleep and slept through the whole game last night. But seriously something has to change with this team, its not Wenger but I think he needs to change his approach when it comes to team selection/transfers. There are some amazing players in this squad but 'the project' of bringing up young talented players could of worked, but not all of them have come to their full potential. There is a need to get rid of some dead weight.

I love this game, but it doesn't love me back. :(

watched the reply this arvo till the 17th min and 0-2 scoreline and couldnt bear to watch anymore, two very simple attacking goals,1st goal was one pass 2nd goal was 2 passes, thats all it took for them to score,

Wow.. This last month iv been watching most of the arsenal games live, n I have to say my blood pressure has really been sky high, it really has been so frustrating to watch them, with more possession N less goals, does noone know how to finish.. Is van persie the only player who knows how to score??? I wonder what our score sheet would look like without him.
But the villa game was extra painfull because I really thought they played well after villas 2 goals( not that it should come to that)
chamakh was playing fantastic, but to see that disallowed goal.. I think I woke up my family yelling so loudly in anger! the commentators were as confused as I was!
I don't know.. Everything seems to be goin not in arsenals direction..
What's everyone's thoughts on Arshavin? I didn't think he played bad but it just looks like he's not really a threat anymore?

Been offline for a few days so havn't been able to post. WoW - where did all these posts come from - bit like a couple of years ago !. Forget the result & look forward to early season CL qualifiers next year. We'll lose at Fulham & finnish 4th. Don't really care anymore. :D :D
