Re: Lukasz Fabianski
Could be a decent signing, but I can't see him coming.
He's come from a side with a good defence and is young and English, but he doesn't have a lot of experience and isn't guaranteed to be able to perform at a Champions League level every week.

What now for Lukasz??????? will we try sell him or is wenger gonna keep the faith.
Why has Mannone not been given a chance, I thought he did quiet well when he came in.

I think Fabianski has time on his side. Wenger clearly rates him, and he's a decent shot stopper, unfortunately, he's just got a shocking command of the area and can't judge crosses.
Mannone has potential, and had a blinder against Fulham, but didn't show a lot other than that. He's still very young and could be given chances in the future, but I don't think he's anywhere near good enough to be number one.

He's a decent stopper, but can't "judge crosses and has a shocking command of the area...?? How can these two points be reconciled...?? He's too short and is not going to cut it in the UCL...
There has been some recent speculation that Mark Schwarzer could be coming to the Gunners!!!! Check it out!!!

Arsenal could be the next Barnstoneworth Utd.
We signed Campbell (35), and are now thinking of Schwartzer (37).
Recently Hill-Wood was quoted as saying "We have done pretty well without one or two other star players. I would like Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Tony Adams back but they are 10 years too old."
Considering how close we were to signing Viera, maybe they're not 10 years too old...
Maybe we're moving from the "Stage 1" of Wenger's plans of only signing too-young players, to "Stage 2", which is to only sign too-old players.
More seriously, if Schwartzer played as well as he did this season, it would be a great addition to the team.

Re: Lukasz Fabianski
Yeah jono, I can see the trend here, and it's a little worrying...
First one extreme, then the other. Thankfully he's signed Chamakh who's 26 and hopefully in the prime of his career.....old enough to know what he's doing, and still young enough to have a future of more than 1 year...
I wasn't too sure about re-signing Campbell....of all the players out there, but he seems to have had some very good games since he was back. Hopefully his maturity can rub off on all these younger players....i can't stand a 6th year without a trophey!!!

Wenger has been linked to almost every keeper out there.
Schwarzer is simply the latest of them, so I wouldn't get too excited. He's also a bit too old for Wenger. Even Lehmann wasn't that old, and Fulham are unlikely to want to let him go.
As for your point about shot stopping vs crosses, they're too different aspects of a keeper. Shot stopping is the ability to position yourself and react well enough to stop the shot coming in (ie. what Lehmann failed to do against Blackburn in his last season), that is a save of a shot coming directly towards goal. Conversely, judgement of crosses is the ability to correctly decide when to come out and when to stay back, deciding whether to punch or catch, and how effective they are at punching or catching. Command of the area is organising the defence and juding when to come out to meet the ball or the player and when to stay back.
