Carlos Vela

Postby Richard » 07 Nov 2007, 20:40

Carlos Vela scored an absolute scorcher for Osasuna overnight. He's definitely a great prospect. I wouldn't mind seeing him back in January now that he's got his work permit organised.

Here's the link:

With Walcott (18), Bendtner (19) and Vela (19) along with RVP and Adebeyor (both 24), it looks like we've got plenty of young talent.

Add to that Eduardo (25) who is yet to make an impact.

Wenger has got young talent waiting in the wings all over the world it seems. He looks a quality young player. Doesn't look strong enough for the EPL though.

an awesome player i think Arsene should consider is Ricardo Quaresma. He may not be as "unknown" as some of Wengers previous buys, but he certainly looks like a very good player

I'd like to see him in an Arsenal shirt, but I get the feeling he may be too expensive (and too well known also).

Wenger will probably sign another little known player.

I think next season will be a very different season to the rest of our other seasons with all these new guys coming in and our regulars maturing further

Could be a double next season, although the double is getting harder to achieve.

I don't think we'll have a lot of new signings, 2-3 only as Wenger has said and Vela will take time to develop. He'll be awesome in 2-4 years, but he's still young and will take time.

Don't write us off for the double.

If we didn't have United before the CL, we might've got over them. We led the league for most of the year and we were unlucky to get knocked out of the CL. Add a Carling Cup semi final this year, and the final last year.

First priority is to win a trophy, then worry about the second.

Not sure what was meant, but I don't think our players maturing is a bad thing.

Yeh I meant it's a double in the way Richard interpreted it. Though Arjun makes a good point, it will be interesting to see the team with the arrival of Vela and Theo as a potential starter plus whoever may be brought in and with the potential losses.
We weren't far off the pace this season, I think 3rd doesn't even really do us justice. We certainly deserved a better finishing in the UCL too. I think a double is a real possibility, England and Europe!

Its funny how u can sometimes look at someone and like them instanly or not, whether they can score or not, whether they're a top class keeper or not etc

You're right. Some players have got more charisma, or you like them because of their name or their nationality, or because of their style of play.

Saw a bit of Vela for Mexico last night against Argentina.

He looked good, making some decent runs, but he still needs to improve his finishing a lot.

Here's a review of his performance:

Another good performance from Vela for Mexico.

He scored one.

The quality is shite, but you can still see the play.

Couple of quotes from our young mexican talking about th scums mexican,

Arsenal's Mexican striker Carlos Vela says Giovani dos Santos won't be at Tottenham for long.

"I am happy for him," Vela said.

"I hope things go well for him at Tottenham, that he gets the minutes he wasn't given at Barcelona and that he shows what he can do.

"He is a very good player and let's hope he can then move on to a better team."

Getting into the scum early on, i like this one already

Best spurs quote since Wenger's "fell asleep".

Both were made unintentionally also.

Saw that.

He wasn't actually arrested. It was the Mexican team captain who was arrested, Vela was just there at the time.

A good article on Vela, with Rowley saying that he's more of a Bergkamp style player than an Eduardo style poacher.

http://youngguns.wordpress.com/2008/06/ ... n-eduardo/

I tend to agree, although he's been played more in the midfield whilst on loan, so he's going to appear more like DB10.

Can anyone really have more finesse and class than the great DB10?

Not for a while. There will never be another DB10, but there will be other players who will have brilliant skills and technique and vision.

Carlos scored again for his country.

Almost scored a double. He still seems to be missing a few chances though. That means he'll fit in well.
