Just saw the news also Phil.
I haven't heard much about him, but I'm sure Wenger noticed him last season when we played Dinamo Zagreb in the Champion's League third round.
I'll be interested to see how he goes. I personally thought we needed one excellent striker, rather than more good strikers. He may have been purchased as a winger also. He is listed as an attacking midfielder/striker.

Ok a quick look online and all looks good.
He was top scorer last season in the Croation league with a record number of goals (34)
The deal is subject to a medical, fee undisclosed.
Hi Rich you must be as mad for it as I am

Absolutely Phil!
Here's a link to a video on YouTube:

He looks like he's more of a poacher than the typical striker that Wenger would go for. Maybe there's a change in tactics since Henry's gone or Wenger realised we needed something different.

Link above for a video of his 34 goals.
Ok so the Croation league is nowhere near as tough as the premier league. Time will tell if he's got what it takes to help Arsenal win some silverware.

Looking at him on youtube, it looks like he's not a solution, but will give us more variety. It's likely that he's a replacement for Baptista. He's the first player to score in a competitive match at the Emirates. I'd now like to see Arsenal sign the first player to score at the Emirates, Huntelaar.
We've needed a poacher for a while, now we've got Da Silva. We've finally got some variety up front, a tall forward (Adebeyor), a more technical striker (RVP), an out-and-out striker (Bendtner), a poacher (Da Silva) and a really quick striker (Walcott). All we need now is a genuine first class striker.
Oh, and the fee for Da Silva is supposed to be 6m.

Can't see Tevez coming. Although I'd like to see him in an Arsenal shirt, I can see West Ham outbidding us and keeping Tevez. I don't think United are after him, he's going to cost over 20m, which may be inflated even more with all the clubs after him, and United have spent 50m so far. I think that'll be about all the spending they can afford.
Of all the stikers linked, I can't see any of them coming. I get the feeling Wenger either, won't sign another striker, or will sign someone who no one has considered.

Some stats on our latest signing:
Last season he scored a goal even 83.2 minutes (34 goals in 32 games), converted 8/8 penalties and made 10 assists.

I'm not sure about the cost of Da Silva. I've read figures ranging from 6m and 8m to 16m. I can't see it being 16m, but I think it's probably 6m plus performance bonuses which could reach 8m. I think that's a fair price for a striker of his quality. He looks good, hopefully he'll fit into Arsenal.

Apparently he is more then just a poacher. He has a good all round game, can header goals (like the one against england), can hold the ball up aswell. The cold English weather won't bother him at all, as its freezing over in Croatia. Looks exciting.

Eduardo....
He looks the goods doesn't he...Was obviously disappointed to see Henry leaving for what he has done for the club but Arsene has done it again. Excited now for the start of the season, really want to see this guy run around.

West Ham have escaped the threat of relegation. There was a chance they could still go down after the Carlos Tevez affair. Some of the other clubs felt unhappy that West Ham had only got a fine (5.5m) for breaking Premier league rules. As no further action agaist West Ham is likely it is now highly unlikely Arsenal will be signing Tevez. on the plus side nor will anyone else.
Also seems there is little chance of seeing Eto in an Arsenal shirt. Torres has gone to Liverpoo. So we're running out of "big name" strikers to go for.

I couldn't see us signing Tevez regardless of whether West Ham went down or not. If he's going to cost 20m, it wouldn't give us the money to buy Tevez plus strengthen the sqaud in other ways, such as a new winger.

Shows what I know! I've just had a text from the UK from a very happy Manure supporting friend of mine informing me that Manure are about to sign Tevez
Now I belive in wenger a great deal, he has given me enough ammo to keep said friend off my back for many years. But I fear that ammo has now come to an end.
Please Mr Wenger help! Beg, steal and borrow just please find a way to stop this happening! Failing that sign a player we've heard of, someone every other team will fear when they play the mighty Arsenal

With the legal problems surrounding Tevez, this may not be such a bad thing. If United do go ahead with the signing, it'll be the end of a massive spending spree costing 70m! If onl Wenger had that much imagine what he could do.

Have just found this. With Gallas mouthing off again it was a nice change. Lets hope he show the same spirit at Arsenal.

I think there are a lot more Arsenal players who are determined like Eduardo, but we don't hear about it. Clichy being happy to wait in Cashey's shadow for year even though he is a great left back in his own right, and will probably been better than Cashley is an example of it.

Rosicky could be back for the CL qualifiers. I wouldn't be surprised to see him on the bench, and either Nasri or Walcott out wide.

Rosicky's injury is hurting some other players development as well, for example Theo could have been put upfront by now, but yet he has to full in for Tomas, please recover ASAP Tomas, we need you!

I don't think Theo is ready to be played up front yet.
He's closer, but still not there yet.
In regards to Rosicky's injury and Theo, I reckon it's helped him more as it's given him a lot more starts.
