Well done to Cesc though.
He's finally being recognised in these awards despite being an awesome player for a few years.
Most of these awards a bullshite though, they're based too much on international results and on teams who win the league.

Word around is that cesc is being looked at to replace gallas as captain next year.
I think this would be a great idea as he constantly says how much he loves the club and wants to spend his career here and looks like he has the respect of all the players on the squad.

im all up for gallas retain it cos i reckon he's done well this year it'd b harsh to take it off him. BUT if cesc were to take it off him, i wouldnt mind at all as cesc's dedication to the club is second to none! i espec love his reactions wen he scores for us

I'm not a massive fan of it.
I'd prefer Toure if any one else is going to take it. I worry that a move to Cesc will be simply to keep him at the club like Henry's move was, and it won't be best for the team.

I find it very strange that Gallas was given the captiancy when he joined the club from Chelsea. was it part of the deal???? (Lucas Niell with Blackburn to stay, West Ham to join for example).
If so thats pretty soft.
Was it also because he is French?
Gilberto or Toure should be given the armband. been at the club alot longer.
If Cesc gets it, its purly for the media, and just proves that the captaincy of modern day football is pointless (which I think it is anyway)

I think it may have been because he's experianced and French.
He wasn't given the captaincy when he joined, it was the season after.

If Flamini were to re-sign with the club for the next few seasons, his onfield performances weigh heavily in favour of him been given the captaincy. Cesc is not ready for it yet in my mind. He will be the Arsenal captain one day nevertheless. And anyway, he already has enough pressure on his shoulders at such a young age by being our best player.

I like your thinking Lachie.
I hadn't even considered Flamini because I'm convinced he's leaving, but he's got the fighting spirit that would inspire the rest of the club.

no way flamini should get it. if he cant even decide now wether he'll stay here, its obvious money comes over arsenal wen ur dealin with flam, i'd keep it with gallas or giv it to toure. i think gil will go in the off-season

He joined in August 2005.
The same time we got rid of the F&*#er Cashley and Clichy became our LB.
We've really benefited from that.
Anyway, back on topic.
Cesc for PM!

i love cesc! from watchin his interviews, goal celebrations n (most importantly) his conduct on the pitch; u get the impression he bleeds for the club n i f*** love that! i jus cant help but hav this horrible thought that one day (maybe even this off season!) he may be poached by the spanish giants , n it really pisses me off that this is a very realistic possiblity (f*** off real n barca!!!

Fabregas doesnt deserve the armband yet. Too immature, and not a leader, nor good enough yet (yeah i know tahts not in the criteria)
Gallas has been a great captain IMO.
You are all just following the media's attack.
He started the pre-game huddle, he is fiery, he also recognises his mistakes, he stands up for every player on the pitch (look at any game, and he does it multiple times) he also has the maturity to pull players away (e/g in the Chelsea game with Eboue - when he was on his 1st yellow and started having a go at the ref, Gallas ran up the field, and pulled him away - unlike Steven Gerrard and Masch)...
Give him a break - he is great!
CB's isnt the problem - they did well all season ,and now all of a sudden they are a problem? no way!

The only way that we need another CD is if Toure becomes a DM.
If they both play CD next season, there's no way we should purchase another CD, as Toure and Gallas would get a game in the starting line up of any other team in the world.

Our defense isn't that bad.
It depends if it's easier to find a CD than a DM.

It's just a promo thing with Cesc. Probably a new boot that's coming out that's endorsed by Cesc.
Check out the website if you like, I think there are links via the Arsenal website.

I wouldn't be that excited. It's just another endorsement.
You should be more excited about the transfer market and Euro 08

Ofcourse mate, Euro 08 will be awesome. Are they going to show it on SBS, Fox Sports, ESPN or Setanta?

That huddle thing was just for the cameras and judging by the looks ont he players faces they dont rate it. I don't think he's been particularly bad but i dont think he's great.

Setanta I believe. I'll be getting it for the month of Euro.

1) dont make sweeping comments when you've obviously made an uninformed comment.
2) If you had've owned ATVO - then you would realise that players such as Walcott, Fabregas, RVP and Gilberto have been asked as to their views on the huddle, and to who started it....each saying GALLAS, and each praising it for it brings a sense of unity. They do it at the end of trainings too...
