RVP has signed on until 2014.. great news I have been reading a few interviews with him and he seems to have his off field life grounded now and the changes he has made to his diet and training schedule he is confident in his fitness and hungry for trophies at Arsenal... I think we are going to see the best of RVP in the next few seasons... maybe Ray won't be happy though...

Good to see that he won't be jetlagged for the next match also.

Hope everything goes well with the birth.

s**t!!!

van Persie has been injured against Italy.

Early reports are that he's torn ligaments and will be out for 2-3 months!

That's sooooo s**t
We should still be alright, but RVP is a very important player for us up front both scoring and assists

Did anyone check if Ray was in the stands with a sniper rifle??? lol

our new formation will mean we can handle this . . . . hopefully
Eduardo FTW
There's only 1 Arsene Wenger

VICTORIA CONCORDIA CRESCIT

Don't blame it on Henry,
don't blame it on the injuries,
don't blame it on the referees,
blame it on Eboue!

With RVP gone for a while you would think maybe big Nick to lead the line but no he is injured of course also... Eduardo to step up with maybe Vela needing to make his mark maybe

It's going to mean that Eduardo will be very important, although, I think Wenger may choose to use Arshavin in his preferred role as a central striker.

devastating to hear... :(

but in tryin to see the 'bright' side of his untimely injury, we hav great depth in attack, edu will lead the line, n with the likes of walcott n vela coming back, as well as nicklas in a months time we can still field a very potent front 3. fingers crossed NOTHING happens to verm, gallas, cesc n song in midweek. for me, those 4 are irreplaceable...

f*ck i HATE internationals!!!
let alone friendlies...

RVP has a shocking record of being injured in friendlies. His last major injury was in a friendly two years ago.

Good news - RVP could be back in 5-7 weeks:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009 ... nd-arsenal

It'd be ideal if he could be back for the Xmas fixtures.

It could even be only 4-6 weeks:

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528, ... 73,00.html?

I get the feeling it'll be mid-January before he's back, and February before he's back in form.

Unfortunately, our lack of strikers and the form of RVP meant that he was playing every game, which probably increased his susceptibility to injury.

Not as bad as originally thought

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story ... nd&cc=3436

Arsenal will be breathing a huge sigh of relief following the news that Robin van Persie will only be sidelined for "four to six weeks" after partially tearing an ankle ligament on international duty

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... weeks.html

Robin van Persie insisted he will be out of action for no more than six weeks despite tearing ankle ligaments during Holland’s 0-0 draw with Italy on Saturday.

Given his recovery times for other injuries I'm not confident he will be back in this timeframe, it's far to early to tell. He was playing for the Dutch last team he got injured too back in 2007 - and we hardly saw him for the remainder of the season as he had soft tissue-after-soft tissue injury - not that that has anything to do with how he will recover from this injury. Bloody anoying though - whenever he is starting to become the man... November international window needs to be banned!!!!

Mash was quite upbeat given the circumstances

I think it'll be longer.

Nasri's injury was thought to be shorter than the initial prognosis, but in the end it was closer to the initial prognosis.

ye i was devastated when i heard of his injury but i thought if we 'had' to get one, best it be in attack n not the other areas where we dont hav as much depth (if any depth at all)...it is time for edu to step up as well as the likes of vela who should be back. if theo is fit for chelsea, we'll hav a very potent attack against them...

why is arsenal soo unlucky, are we cursed?

Unfortunately we've got Bendtner out until January.

Although he's not the best finisher, he's able to lead the line well and will improve with age.

I'd like to see Arshavin and Eduardo interchanging with the number one striker.

It appears RVP is going to Croatia for some unconventional treatment on his injured ankle...apparently he is seeing a female doctor who will give him lengthy massages using "placental fluid"?! Gives a whole new meaning to the old cure "Soak it in cider" (inside her)!! haha...As long as it helps I couldn't care if he took part in mad satanic rituals involving the sacrifice of virgins or goats or whatever...sounds like fun though. My only worry is it may turn his "chocolate leg" into a "c*nt of a leg" ...and I wouldn't like to be washing his socks!

It's now reported that Van Persie will be out of action for four to five months. Wont be back until late March according to club officials - and I assume that would be best case scenario. I was pretty confident in our campaign for the premiership two weeks ago, I thought we could push right to the end, but it's going to be tough to stay in touch with the top without Van Persie - he has been involved in everything this season. Eduardo, Walcott and Bendtner (when he is fit) will have to make some massive contributions if we are going to challange. Not to mention our current crisis in defence. I wonder if this new diagnosis will lead Wenger to chase Chamakh from Bordeux again in the transfer window. His performances for Bordeux in the Champion's League have been outstanding. I don't think Wenger will splash the cash but I hope he remembers the immediate impact Arshavin had when he came in last season.

Chamakh is a possibility, but Wenger has mentioned that he wants to give Vela more of a go.

I think it's a good idea for him to get more of a go, but unfortunately, with Bendtner out injured, we don't have a striker who's adept at leading the line at the moment. If we can get Chamakh at the right price, I'd be in favour of it.

After today's game against Chelsea I think we saw that Vela and Eduardo are both physically too small against the monster CBs running around in the EPL. Hopefully Bendtner is not too far away.

I agree, we need a striker to be more of a target man.

It's really hard for a pace striker like Vela or a fox-in-the-box type like Eduardo to run the line.

Bendtner did well against United last season, and I'd like to see him leading the line with Eduardo, Vela and Arshavin off him.
