So who can replace Van The Man with...

We have been linked with Mario Balotelli and Giampaolo Pazzini , (according to Italian papers that you never believe in). Never heard of Pazzini, but he plays for Sampdoria, while Balotelli has immense potential, but do we need another yong striker???

I would prefer someone from the EPL, or someone who has played before in England. Soctt McDonald??? Possibly, wouldn't be that much considering Scottish league is struggling for money and Celtic are out of Europe, a strong target man, but highly unlikely.

Then again Wenger probably sign a reletively unknown player from Congo for a bag of uniforms and hopefully turn our season around. Tresor Mputu???? (Dubbed new Eto'o.)

Off topic: About the bag of uniforms, Fulham signed Zat Knight from Rushall Olympic for 20 uniforms, no fee at all!)

In similar vein in the dying days of Fitzroy in the AFL, Richmond swapped the old nets behind the goals to Fitzroy for a player - I think it was for one of the Gales from memory.

Wenger has denied going for Balotelli.

Personally, I think that's a good idea - he's undoubtably got talent, but his temprement is a major issue, and that could end up affecting the rest of the team.

In regards to Pazzini, I think he's gained a lot from Cassano's brilliant form. I'm not sure how he'd go as a sole striker.

Scott McDonald is no good - he's shown that he can't lead the line for the Socceroos. We'd be better using Eduardo than buying McDonald.

Regarding the transfer of Zat Knight for 20 uniforms. They either better have been bloody good uniforms, or Fulham got ripped off!

It's like deja vu

I know this injury didn't come on national duty but I wouldnt not lose any sleep if Van Persie retired from international football.

I get the feeling that the injury could be a way of keeping RVP out of the next lot of international matches.

If he was going to be out for 3 weeks or so, it would make sense to rule him out for 4-5 so he misses further internationals.

Seems to me it doesn't matter if it's international or club football, fact is RVP is not a very durable player. His injury frequency goes beyond being unlucky. I've said this before and I'll say it again, how long before the club decides to cut it's losses with a player who spends more time on the the treatment table than on the pitch? I'm not doubting his ability, and I love his attitude, but with Bendy out we are only an injury to Chamakh away from a situation where we will have to use Andre the Giant at centre forward, and franly that scares the crap outta me.
