What happen to him lately? He seemed reluctant to clear the ball lately...his mistake cost us a goal today really... :? let's hope no more silly move from him again >.<

I think it was more Flam holding on to the ball to long coming out from defence that cost us the goal. Gael was one of the best as usual.

For those that have it. Check out the clip of Clichy on ATVO.

How good is this guy????

It's amazing he hasn't scored yet, but he's got plenty of assists.

Mate thats very harsh. If your referring to the Birmingham game it was a dive and not a peno for a start, and also everything went against us in that match. How many games did he win or help us to win? How many times did he stop someone from getting around him therefore blocking a chance for them to score or assist?

Everybody makes a mistake now and then, how many shots on open goals could addy have scored to win matches that would of help them win the title? How many mix ups in defence cost us goals and points that season? many of both, every player was responsible for mistakes last season.

Clichy is class and deserved his position! imho of course.

I gotta agree there, that is very harsh mate, i dont think he cost us anything, he has done so much for us, it is very harsh to remember that one time where he did a mistake, and plus it was a dive

Exactly right. All players make mistakes, defenders mistakes are more evident than other players.

Clichy has won more matches for us that he has lost and is one of the best left backs in the world.

If Clichy representated France, they would have stayed a lot longer

You can't make comments like that.

France were poor all over the park with the exception of Ribery and possibly Toulalan.

Clichy and Sagna may have helped France, but the fact that they only scored one goal was their major problem.

n to add to wat Rich said, evra isnt exactly a "bad" LB, he does hav a premiership n CL medal to his name. france screwed up cos of domenech n lack of team chemistry n also due to injury to key players like ribery n vieira n co.

It was due to a number of factors.

I think there was very poor man management. Starting Malouda at CD playing Thuram who is well past his best, playing two DM and lacking attacking threat.

Injuries didn't help though, but they weren't the only reason.

Not to forget the Zidane factor, plus Viera not showing any signs of coming on

What Zidane factor?

They knew he was retired before the qualifying even started.

If they couldn't plan for him two years after his retirement, they can't use that as an excuse.

Vieria was obviously expected to play, otherwise Flamini would have come into the squad.

I never said it was an excuse, it was poor managing from Domenech, he should have known of the gap that was there from Zidane

How good is Clichy!

He's come out and said that RVP is as good as Ronaldo and Nasri is the next Zidane.

Here's a decent article proposing Clichy should be the next captain:

http://www.arsenalinsider.co.uk/?p=2548

I think it makes some good points and is worth considering.

There's also some stuff about Jabba's takeover.

I think Clichy's got the right attitude (or appears to).

The only thing I'm not sure about is how vocal he is and how much of a leader he is. He comes across as a bit quiet, which is the problem with Toure also.

He doesn't come across as the most outgoing player, but it doesn't mean he isn't outgoing or wouldn't be a good leader.

It's hard to tell what players are like from the outside.

as good as clichy is, he has this annoyin habit of makin mother of all f*** ups that cost us crucial goals...anyone who rates him over cashley needs a serious rethink...

but thats the thing, he f*** up n he f*** up big..cole is fast too, i jus think he was more consistent than clichy. in terms of attitude cole is an absolute c***...but still doesnt detract from the fact that hes the best LB we hav had n will hav had in a long time...

I don't think the fact that he's made a couple of mistakes should preclude him from being captain.

The captain should be picked on the ability to hold a first team spot, and their leadership abilities. Unless you think Clichy shouldn't be LB, I can't see why a few errors should preclude him from being captain.

He's got a great attitude, and he doesn't let the occassional mistake, that every defender makes, worry him.

maybe it would be good for the moral of the players if the next captain wasnt french...the other players may feel inferior
