The fact that it hasn't been decided if it's permanent, means Milan have the option to buy but they haven't committed to it.

Completely guessing, but I reckon the option to buy might be a bit expensive - thus Arsene's confidence that AC won't exercise it.

Otherwise, Arsenal would be in a lose-lose situation - either he plays and becomes good, but we lose him - or - he doesn't play, or plays badly, and we get him back - that doesn't make sense as a deal...

Re thinning at the back, maybe Arsene's thinking three at the back if injuries strike (just trying to think outside the box...).

Good luck Senderos, come back soon! Keep in touch!

I think Arsene has said if he goes to Milan he'll get some cash to replace him with, or if they don't buy him, we get a decent defender back.

We've also got Nordtveit on loan this year, and he'll definitely come back, hopefully as a much improved player.

I am not very happy about this, i wish phil all the best for the future, and he has gone to a big continental club, so all those senderos knockers should be aware he does have talent, he is young and his confidence is affected as he knows a majority of fans have no faith in him, i had high hopes fopr him and i still rate him.
i am very worried about what wenger is doing at the moment, our squad is very bare and weak, and lacks experience and maturity, looking at the last couiple of years wenger seems to be asset stripping the club, i just feel very frustrated, i could very well be proven wrong, which wouldn't be the first time, but my confidence is low and i am worried about the state of the squad, but i am finding it hard to stay positive, wenger seems to be wanting to make the challenge of winning the league as hard as possible, and what chance do we have in europe when we cant even beat fulham, the league is 2 weeks old and i am all ready filled with pesimism, oh could be worse i could be a spurs supporter, thats cheered me up (a little)

We really need Toure and Gallas in form.

I'm not a huge fan of Silvestre and thought Senderos was a better defender.

If Senderos doesn't come back, I'd like to see us bring in another defender, as I'm not a massive fan of Silvestre, Song (in CD) or Djourou.

well Richard dont quote me on this, but in arseblogger, wenger has pretty well as much said senderos has played his last game for the club and doesnt see him at arsenal in the future, i think we are weak in central defence and midfield, but i guess wenger knows what he is doing ( i hope)

I haven't read anything or heard anything from Wenger saying that Senderos has played his last game for the club, but I've got a feeling he's not coming back.

He's a good defender and will do well at Milan, and for 6m I reckon he's good value and they'll use the option that they have to buy him in a year's time.

im not happy about it, stuff the money, were struggling with depth and we get rid of a guy thats happy to be on the bench, money and experience aside, we needed senderos, a lot of people, myself included, have been quick to criticise senderos, but at least hes the type of player that doesnt complain about being on the bench

I'm not happy with it either, but then again, I was a Senderos supporter and I'm not a fan of Silvestre. I really hope Gallas and Toure stay fit this year.

I just dont see the point of the transfer tbh. Surely that 6 mil isnt that important as depth is, Silvestre is injured, and having Senderos there would have no negative effect

I think it may be because Wenger sees Djourou and Nordtveit as better long term defenders. It may also be to give Senderos some confidence, but if that's the case, then it doesn't explain the option attached to the loan.

I've always been a fan of Big Phil and would be happy to get him back anytime.
Not sure about the captain thing though.
IMO, Almunia would suit better with the role.

word is that we may make an attempt to bring him back in jan..dont even kno if its possible...but im on this theory that we will play gallas and if we get phil back then we will rid ourselves of gallas and get atleast 8m for him!

i love it how phil is made to be the saviour in all of this...he's no good, please refer to anflield 2nd leg last season, jus one of many matches he's lost the plot. i must admit he was brilliant for the few months kolo was out, but its these errors we jus cannot put up with...once he loses his mojo, he is GONE for the whole season...

I doubt it'll happen, if there's a buy option, which has been reported in many sources, there won't be a recall option.

Hopefully two goals will give him a bit of confidence.

He could become first choice again, but he's going to need to prove his consistency and mental state.

He's a quality defender and ironically, in the Tony Adams mould that people have been calling for. I really hope he can make it as an Arsenal player.

Completely agree Mash.

With Djourou out, we really have to make sure of CDs don't get injured.

I'd almost prefer we recalled Nordtveit from loan rather than played Silvestre!

I agree Dave he is far better than Djourou and I can't believe he doesn't get in ahead of him... I think Clichy has been weak of late I would be looking at starting Big Phil with Willy in the middle and try Vermaelen on the left or as i have said before f*** diaby off and put verm and song in behind cesc and put Big Phil in the back... He is big and angry looking and puts himself about in the air and is just what we need in our defence atm...

why are u so hell bent on switchin around vermaelen?? leave it the way it is, as for clichy and diaby (who is absolutely hopeless) we got gibbs/traore and ramsey (and rosicky who is nearing full fitness and nasri who is close to returning). we wont see much of diaby hopefully and as for gael he really needs a kick up the arse!

i think sagna has been a bit iffy to this season, gives alot of balls away, personally i think diaby is alot better than denilson, but hey thats just my opinion, but i am allowed i hope

i wouldnt take out vermalen, i think he has been great, but like i said i personally dont think senderos is that bad

I am just throwing ideas around.... Vermaelen is brilliant at CD I just think that with him and Gallas we are lacking that big hard defender and I have seen him play as a DM for AJAX and he is magic... with him and Song screening the back 4 cesc has a licence to kill and Vermaelen bangs in 30 yard screamers for fun in training so let him push on I reckon... Song and Vermy would give us that Viera - Petit type DM pairing that everyone has been saying we have missed....
When we play Stoke and Burnley etc they will hit us with a lot of long balls and hoofs into the box we haven't really been hit with an aerial bombardment yet but I think when we do Big Phil will be a better option especially against the spuds with that string bean crouch c**t. after seeing blackburns approach the other day of just bombing in high long balls and they worked we didn't deal with them that well, how many other lower teams are going to use the same approach...
