Kolo Toure

Postby Richard » 23 Jul 2008, 13:38

Apparantly Toure has come back from Africa with Malaria.

It's only the sun and I couldn't see it reported elsewhere, so let's hope its just tabloid bullsh*te.

Nope, sounds like the truth. May give a bit of rev to Arsene to get a decent CB back up!

I've now seen it elsewhere.

Another chance for Senderos to show himself, at least we don't have any titles riding on it at this stage.

Senderos has had enough chances. He may be ok as a sub, but he's not good enough to be a full time back up, for what might be a number of games.
And to be honest, Toure is likely not to have the same fitness again with Malaria - he is going to be permanently crocked.

Toure's problem is that he won't have a pre-season.

Dunno whether Wenger will buy another CD. I won't complain if he does or doesn't though.

Nordtveit needs another year or two, Senderos is capable.

i've said it from the beginnin: we need a bloody good centreback to partner either kolo or gallas, in this case gallas. with kolo being crook for quite a while, since malaria is a bitch, we're gonna b quite screwed unless phil can reproduce the same form from jan to march, in early april he simply fell apart, all his good work/form jus went to s**t...

A big worry is that it seems Toure has contracted malaria :? :?

I dont think people are recgonising the seriousness of this- I may be wrong, but Malaria never really goes away, it just stays dormant if treated propertly until you get run down etc (which is likely to happen quite often when playing at this level) then rears up again. Means that Kolo will be up/down for good.
Stand to be corrected.

no offence taken mate . Malaria is definetly not a good thing, but whats worrying more is how can a proffessional sport star contract it? Isnt that what were all given vaccinations for when were children and also when we go overseas?

Toure should be ok for the start of the season.

It looks like he's taking his hair style advice from Alex Song also.

Toure's shoulder injury will cause him to miss four games:

Neither Kolo or Gallas are great headers, so whilst Djourou (or Senderos :( ) may be a better option for more "English" style teams, United are a team that play the ball along the ground more than in the air and Toure and Gallas will be important to keep the strikers and Ronaldo quiet.

I definetly hope that Toure and Gallas are back for the manure game. As Richard said, theyre not much on air balling, thats when xp will come in handy when clearing ground passing

I hope Toure is, whilst Gallas and Toure are the best defenders who have, Djourou provides us with something different and I won't be too concerned if he plays against Man Utd.

There are rumours that Toure is leaving despite the official website saying he's staying:

http://www.arsenalinsider.co.uk/?p=3050

Man City are rumoured to have increased their bid, if they bid 20m, we may let him go. If only we'd chuck in Silvestre as a bonus.

f*** if they bid 20m thats hard to say no to...but i think if that were to happen and we didnt use that money for transfers..it wouldnt be fair on the fans..

i think they may bid 15m to test our resolve!!

If Toure goes it would be the last of the invincibles era to have departed the club.

The last of the regular first XI.

Where have they gone:

Lehmann (Dortmund)

Lauren (Pompey) Campbell (Pompey) Toure (Arsenal) Cole (Chelsea)

Ljungberg (Seattle) Vieria (Inter) Gilberto (Panethenakos) Pires (Villareal)

Bergkamp (Retired) Henry (Barca)

sorry to be a cu** rich but i do have to nitpick on one thing

lehmann is playing at stuttgart..he played at dortmund before us..

and mash dont worry if kolo goes ..gallas wont be far behind..it does somehow seem unfathomable that the one who causes the trouble would linger longer than kolo...just doesnt sit well with me..but im thinking kolo wont go and gallas will see the season out!

True, I thought that could be wrong.

I knew he just went back to some second rate German side.

I have to say, I'm quiet worry about the Toure situation. It seems like he could really be on his way out.

Here's another rumour:

i wouldnt be suprised if he did...it just seems like a arsenal thing to do of late..the troublesome defender stays and the good one goes..

but in the midst of all this im glad djourou stepped up..if kolo does go..can we get senderos back? or does he have to stay his spell?

I believe there wasn't a fee with the loan deal to Milan, just payment of his wages, so we have the recall option.

However, I'm not sure what the situation is with the buy out clause at the end, and Wenger has already said he won't recall Senderos.

I think it's more likely that Wenger will look for a replacement and Nordtveit isn't ready to step up to the first team yet and I don't like the idea of having either Song or Silvestre in CD if either of Gallas or Djourou gets injured.

well what i just read on goal..is that if we manage to get matthew upson..arsenal are ok with accepting kolo's transfer request

i dont want that to happen as we probably wil get at best 2 good years out of upson and then we are on the look again

..and i think if senderos isnt going to come back and stay with milan..then we do need to look for a new cb before the jan window ends..

but with the defenders milan have..it just doesnt seem like they'd keep him either

If we got even 2 quality years out of him at the highest uninjured level it would be ok as i could see Nordtveit stepping up by then and ready to take over from him.
